The Georg C.F. Greve Article - European Judgement - 'Microsoft, Antitrust, and Innovation'
Published by Groklaw today (Friday 28th September), Georg has published a finely crafted and detailed rebuttal of the Microsoft statement that the EU judgement was to the detriment of consumers around the world. This action was necessary, because Microsoft and their lobbyists have been pushing the detriment argument into mainstream media (Including the UK’s Times newspaper), and letters supporting the Microsoft viewpoint have been appearing which have been picked up. At some point, Microsoft also persuaded the US Justice Division’s antitrust chief Thomas Barnett to criticise the EU judgement on the day it came out, so was a clearly planned move.
I’d like to ask that for those who haven’t seen and commented on it yet, we take out a little time today to read Georg’s excellent article in some depth, particularly the section on Interoperability, and distribute to our other networks and contacts, and encourage further discussion where possible. It hints at how Microsoft will also use lobbying and big media to also push the pro MSOOXML story, and without us having the alternative view covered on websites and in blogs, major media and Government officials will only find the Microsoft story playing.
